Fleet KPIs
In Arabicمؤشرات أداء الأسطول الرئيسية (KPIs)
The handful of measured figures, such as utilisation, cost per kilometre, fuel consumption and safety events, that show whether a fleet is performing as planned.
What are fleet KPIs?
Fleet KPIs are a short list of figures, each with a fixed definition and a target, that management reviews weekly or monthly. Common ones are asset utilisation, cost per kilometre, litres per 100 km, idle share, safety events per 100 km, and on-time maintenance and delivery.
A KPI is not just any number in a report. It is the number everyone has agreed measures success, and that a named person answers for.
How it works
- 1Choose five to eight defined measures
- 2Collect data automatically from tracking
- 3Review monthly against targets
Why do fleet KPIs matter?
Without agreed KPIs, fleet discussions run on one-off incidents: a late delivery, a complaint about a driver. A stable set of measures shows trends, lets you compare branches and contractors fairly, and ties decisions such as replacing a vehicle or retraining a driver to figures that finance and operations both accept.
What you gain
- Puts trends ahead of anecdotes
- Compares branches on equal terms
- Decisions finance and operations accept
How does Safee help you measure fleet KPIs?
When KPI inputs come straight from tracking, there are no spreadsheets to fill by hand. Safee covers most of them in ready reports on utilisation, distance, fuel, idling, driver violations and operation cost, which can arrive by email each month so the KPI pack builds itself.
A field example
A building materials distributor in Dubai with 90 trucks across three yards tracked nothing but total fuel spend. Management set five KPIs: utilisation, cost per kilometre, litres per 100 km, harsh events per 100 km and idle share. The first month showed one yard at 31 litres per 100 km against 26 at the other two, with twice the idle share. After an idling campaign and route changes, that yard was down to 27 litres within three months.
Frequently asked questions
What are the most important fleet KPIs?
Most fleets track utilisation, cost per kilometre, fuel consumption, safety events, maintenance compliance and on-time performance; the right mix depends on the business.
How often should fleet KPIs be reviewed?
Operational ones such as idling and safety events weekly, cost and utilisation monthly, always with the same definitions.
What is the difference between fleet KPIs and fleet analytics?
KPIs are fixed figures that measure results; analytics is the work of digging into the data to find out why those figures moved.
