Path History
In Arabicسجل المسار
A redraw of the route a vehicle took over a past period, with speeds, stops and events, which can also be replayed as motion.
What is path history in fleet management?
Each tracker message is a point on the map; joined up, the points show the road, heading and stops, hence the name breadcrumb trail. You can read it as a static line or play it back, the icon moving in the order and timing of its messages, to see where the vehicle slowed, stopped, and entered or left a site.
In Safee's Explore History page, points are coloured by vehicle status, the route is summarised by distance, speed, and moving and idle time, and playback runs at up to 64x.
How it works
- 1Tracker sends each message with its time
- 2Platform draws messages as a coloured route
- 3Reviewer reads it or plays it back
Why does path history matter in fleet management?
Memory and paper logs do not settle arguments; path history does. It proves to a customer that the truck arrived on time, checks a driver's story about a diversion, and exposes private trips and long stops. Replaying it after an accident or violation cuts the investigation to minutes and gives you material for driver coaching.
What you gain
- Documented evidence for every trip
- Exposes stops and detours
- Incident review and coaching
How does Safee help you review path history?
Safee keeps every vehicle's messages, so any past trip can be redrawn with its speeds, stops and geofence entries and exits, or replayed as motion. The route and its data can be exported as files to send to a customer or insurer as documented evidence.
A field example
An oil-field services company in Jubail received a report that one of its trucks had clipped the gate barrier at a rig site. The safety officer pulled up the truck's path history and replayed the last ten minutes slowly: the driver entered the gate at 38 km/h against a 15 km/h limit. The clip was shown at a toolbox talk for all drivers on the site, and no similar incident was recorded in the following three months.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between path history and live monitoring?
Live monitoring shows where a vehicle is now; path history redraws a past period with all its messages, stops and speeds.
Can I replay a past trip?
Yes. The trip plays back as motion at a speed you choose, showing speed, heading, ignition status and time at each point. In Safee playback runs at up to 64x.
Why are the points on the route unevenly spaced?
Each point is one tracker message; spacing follows the reporting interval and the vehicle's speed.
