Augmented Tracking
In Arabicالمتابعة الحثيثة
Following a small number of critical vehicles with a fast refresh, down to once a second, instead of the fleet's normal refresh rate.
What is augmented tracking in fleet management?
The whole fleet rarely needs updating every second, but some jobs do: a convoy with a high-value load, a vehicle on a security run, a truck approaching a congested gate. Augmented Tracking, also called high-frequency tracking, confines the fast refresh to those vehicles and leaves the rest of the fleet at its normal rate.
It only works if the tracker reports as often, because the screen cannot show a position it has not received. In Safee the selected vehicles open on a dedicated Augmented Tracking page.
How it works
- 1Pick only the critical vehicles
- 2Show them on a dedicated page
- 3Page refreshes as often as every second
Why does augmented tracking matter in fleet management?
At critical moments a position one second old beats one 30 seconds old: a vehicle leaving the convoy route, or an incident that needs an immediate response. Keeping the fast refresh to a few vehicles keeps other monitoring screens light and does not raise data costs across the fleet.
What you gain
- Refresh down to one second
- Focus on critical vehicles
- Rest of the fleet unaffected
How does Safee help you follow critical vehicles closely?
Safee can show critical vehicles on a dedicated monitoring page that refreshes as often as once a second, within a maximum number of vehicles and a minimum refresh time set for the company's account. Supervisors see every detour or stop as it happens, without slowing the screens that follow the rest of the fleet.
A field example
A pharma distributor in Abu Dhabi moves high-value vaccine consignments in three reefer trucks each week, and the general monitoring screen, showing 90 vehicles, could not keep up with them. The supervisor began following the three trucks on their own, refreshing every two seconds for the whole run. On one trip he saw an unplanned stop on a side road within seconds, called the driver and got him back on route. No vaccine consignment has arrived late since.
Frequently asked questions
Does Augmented Tracking increase the device's data usage?
Refreshing the screen changes nothing on the device, but raising the unit's reporting rate to match it does increase data usage.
Why not refresh every vehicle every second?
It would slow the screens and use data with no benefit for most vehicles, so the fast refresh is kept for critical ones.
