Temperature Alarm
In Arabicإنذار درجة الحرارة
An alarm raised when cargo temperature stays outside the set range for longer than the allowed delay.
What is a temperature alarm in fleet management?
A temperature alarm turns sensor readings into a timely alert, so nobody has to watch a chart all day. It rests on three elements: a permitted range, a margin that ignores minor fluctuations, and a delay before the alarm fires.
The limit can change with location: one for the road, another on entering or leaving the warehouse or the customer's site. Getting the margin and delay right is what separates a useful alarm from noise.
How it works
- 1Reading leaves the permitted range
- 2System waits out the delay
- 3Alarm reaches whoever is on duty
Why does a temperature alarm matter in fleet management?
An excursion found after delivery is a loss; one reported within minutes is a decision: divert to the nearest cold store, transfer the load or call the reefer technician. Well-set delays and margins also prevent the flood of false alarms that teaches supervisors to ignore the real one.
What you gain
- Act before the load spoils
- Fewer, more accurate alarms
- Different limits per site
How does Safee help you set up a temperature alarm?
Safee's Temperature in Range alarm condition raises the alarm when a breach lasts longer than the delay you choose (its time tolerance) and sends it to the person on duty through the channel they follow. Temperature can be watched everywhere, only inside the warehouse and customer sites, or only after leaving them, so only the alerts that matter get through.
A field example
A frozen-food distributor in Dubai serves 120 stores with 22 trucks at −18 °C. Supervisors were getting over 300 temperature alarms a week, mostly a few seconds at each door opening, and had stopped reading them. The company reset the alarm with a 3 °C margin and a 10-minute delay, and alarms fell to 15 a week. One of them caught a failed compressor and saved a load worth AED 60,000.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I get temperature alarms at every delivery?
Opening the door raises the reading for a few minutes. Lengthen the delay or widen the margin, or exclude delivery sites from monitoring.
What delay should a temperature alarm have?
Usually 5 to 15 minutes for food and shorter for pharmaceuticals and vaccines. It should be longer than a normal door opening at delivery.
