Panic Button
In Arabicزر الذعر
A button in the cab the driver presses in danger, sending an immediate emergency alarm with the vehicle's position to the control room.
What is a panic button in fleet management?
A panic button is a silent distress signal for robbery, assault, a crash or a breakdown somewhere isolated. It is wired to a digital input on the tracker, which sends an emergency event with the location the moment it is pressed.
The event reaches the control room as an urgent alarm and goes to the duty officer on whatever channel the company has chosen. Where there is no mobile coverage, it can be sent through a satellite communication unit.
How it works
- 1Driver presses the panic button
- 2Device sends the emergency event and position
- 3Duty officer receives the alarm instantly
Why does a panic button matter in fleet management?
On long desert roads, and when carrying cash, medicines or high-value goods, a driver may not be able to make a call. One press cuts the critical minutes between an incident and help arriving, and gives the control room an exact position instead of a confused description over the phone. The event also stays on record, with time and place, for investigations and insurance claims.
What you gain
- One-press silent distress call
- Exact position when danger strikes
- Recorded evidence for investigations
How does Safee help deliver panic button alarms?
Safee turns a button press into an instant emergency alarm carrying the vehicle's position and delivers it to the duty officer on the company's chosen channel, such as a pop-up with a warning tone or an SMS. On vehicles with a satellite unit, the panic alarm arrives by email even outside mobile coverage.
A field example
A cash-in-transit company in Riyadh runs 40 armoured vehicles between ATMs. In a surprise drill a driver pressed the panic button, and the duty officer noticed only nine minutes later because the alarm came by email alone. The company made it appear as a pop-up with a warning tone, plus an SMS to the shift supervisor. At the next drill the response came within 40 seconds.
Frequently asked questions
Does the panic button work without mobile coverage?
It depends on the hardware. A standard tracker needs the mobile network; a vehicle fitted with a satellite unit sends the panic alarm over satellite.
Where should the panic button be mounted?
Somewhere the driver can reach easily and a passenger cannot see, usually under the dashboard or beside the seat.
What if the button is pressed by mistake?
The control room calls the driver first and checks with an agreed code phrase before deciding whether to call for help.
