Alarm

In Arabicالإنذار

In short

A record the tracking system creates when a vehicle or driver breaks an agreed limit, such as speed, location or permitted hours.

What is an alarm in fleet management?

An alarm is an out-of-the-ordinary event the system has detected: a speeding event, entry into a restricted zone, an engine started after hours. It comes either from the tracker itself, when a programmed event occurs, or from a rule the fleet manager sets on the platform.

Each alarm carries its type, reason and time, the vehicle and its driver, and the location on the map. An alarm is not a notification: the alarm is a record that is always kept; the notification is a message sent to a particular person.

How it works

  1. 1Device or rule detects the event
  2. 2Platform logs the alarm with details
  3. 3Supervisor reviews and acts

Why does an alarm matter in fleet management?

No supervisor can watch hundreds of vehicles by eye. Alarms narrow attention to the cases that need action, so a breach is caught in minutes rather than weeks later in a fuel bill, an accident or a customer complaint. The alarm log is also documented evidence when you hold a driver to account or review an insurance claim.

What you gain

  • Breaches caught within minutes
  • Every event documented
  • Every event tied to a driver

How does Safee help you manage alarms?

Safee gathers device and rule-based alarms on one Alarms page, each with a plain-language reason, its location on the map and the driver linked to it. Critical alarms are pushed straight to the right person; the rest stay in reports that show which vehicles and drivers break the rules most often.

A field example

Ras Al Khaimah · Building materials distribution

A building-materials distributor in Ras Al Khaimah running 85 trucks kept getting complaints about speeding on Emirates Road. The supervisor grouped a month of alarms by plate and found that 9 trucks raised 70% of the overspeed alarms. Their drivers got one-to-one coaching and bonuses were tied to alarm counts. Within two months overspeed alarms had roughly halved.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an alarm and a notification?

The alarm is the event logged in the system; the notification is the message sent to a person by web, email, app or SMS. Every notification comes from an alarm, but not every alarm sends one.

What are the most common fleet alarms?

Speeding, long idling, out-of-hours use, geofence entry or exit, and sudden drops in fuel level.

Is an alarm saved if no notification is sent?

Yes. Every alarm is kept in the alarm log and reports, whether or not a notification went out.
