Mandatory Checkpoint
In Arabicنقطة المرور الإلزامية
A set location on a journey that the vehicle must pass, with the visit, time spent and speed recorded by the platform.
What is a mandatory checkpoint in fleet management?
A mandatory checkpoint is a place the journey plan requires the vehicle to pass: a mandatory rest stop, a site gate or an intermediate drop. It confirms the driver used the approved road and stopped where required.
In Safee, checkpoints (listed as 'Checkpoints (stops)') are added inside a journey task and drawn on the map as circles or polygons; for each one the platform logs whether it was visited, how long the vehicle stayed and at what speed.
How it works
- 1Checkpoint drawn into the journey plan
- 2Vehicle entries and exits logged
- 3Visit and dwell time recorded
Why does a mandatory checkpoint matter in fleet management?
A journey plan without checkpoints only proves the start and the end. Checkpoints reveal skipped rest stops, unsafe shortcuts and long stops in the wrong place: evidence a company needs after an accident or in a dispute with a client.
What you gain
- Proves the approved route was used
- Monitors mandatory rest stops
- Measures time spent at each site
How does Safee help you monitor mandatory checkpoints?
Safee checks that the vehicle passed every checkpoint in the journey plan and logs how long it stayed, so you know without phoning the driver whether the rest stop was taken and the approved road used. The record stands as evidence after an accident or in a client dispute.
A field example
A chemical haulier running Jubail to Riyadh requires a 30-minute mid-route rest. It added a checkpoint at the approved rest area, and within two weeks found that 9 of 52 trips skipped it or stopped under 10 minutes. After warnings and linking bonuses to compliance, adherence rose to 96%.
Frequently asked questions
How is a checkpoint different from a geofence?
A geofence is permanent and serves all vehicles; a mandatory checkpoint belongs to one journey task and is judged as part of it.
Can I see how long a vehicle stayed at a checkpoint?
Yes, the platform logs total, moving, idle and ignition-on time for each checkpoint.
