Round Trip
In Arabicرحلة الذهاب والعودة
A full cycle that starts when a vehicle leaves its base and ends when it returns, with the destinations visited on the way.
What is a round trip in fleet management?
Many fleets measure work in round trips, complete cycles from base and back, rather than single trips: a tanker leaving the filling station and coming back, a mixer going plant to site and back. Cycle count and cycle time are the real measure of productivity.
Safee measures this with the Geofence-based Voyage Report: a cycle starts when the vehicle leaves the start geofence and ends when it returns, logging each destination geofence entered and when.
How it works
- 1Vehicle leaves the start geofence
- 2Each destination entry logged with time
- 3Cycle ends on return to base
Why does a round trip matter in fleet management?
Cycle time shows where the day goes: waiting at the customer, queuing at the filling point, or a long return leg. A vehicle doing six cycles a day gains two hours if each is cut by 20 minutes, which can be enough for an extra load without buying another truck.
What you gain
- Counts cycles per vehicle
- Measures waiting at each destination
- Sharper contract pricing
How does Safee help measure round trips?
Safee detects a vehicle leaving base and returning, and logs every destination it entered on the way and when, giving you cycle count and cycle time per vehicle. Those figures show where waiting eats the day and let you price per-load contracts on real numbers.
A field example
A water-tanker operator in Sohar is paid per load from the desalination plant to farms. Measuring cycle time per tanker showed queuing at the plant taking 45 minutes of every cycle. Staggered filling slots raised the average from 5 to 6 loads per tanker per day.
Frequently asked questions
How is a round trip different from a trip?
A trip ends at each long stop or engine switch-off; a round trip covers all movement from leaving base until returning.
How is cycle time measured?
From the moment the vehicle leaves base until it returns, including driving, waiting, loading and unloading.
