Alarm Video Evidence
In Arabicدليل فيديو الإنذار
Automatically saving a short clip from the vehicle's cameras around an alarm, covering the seconds before and after, and sending it to the platform as evidence.
What is alarm video evidence in fleet management?
Vehicle cameras record the whole trip to the recorder's storage, but uploading hours of footage over mobile data is expensive and nobody would watch it. So when an event fires, such as harsh braking, drowsiness, phone use or a collision, the system cuts a short clip covering the moments before and after and uploads only that, attached to the alarm.
It is one function of video telematics, whether the cameras feed an MDVR or sit in an AI dashcam. In Safee this is the Alarm Video Evidence feature of the V-IVMS video service: clips download automatically, with the camera or cameras for each alarm type chosen in the Alarm Video Evidence Configuration.
How it works
- 1An event raises an alarm
- 2Clip cut from before and after
- 3Clip arrives with the alarm
Why does alarm video evidence matter in fleet management?
An alarm on its own is a line in a report; the clip shows what actually happened. It separates false alarms from real risk, lets you coach drivers on moments they lived through, and defends the company with insurers and third parties after a collision. Uploading only event clips keeps data costs and review time manageable.
What you gain
- Settles disputes after collisions
- Coaching on real moments
- Less data, faster review
How does Safee help you review event clips?
Safee delivers the clip with the alarm itself, so a supervisor sees the event and its evidence in one place without requesting footage from the vehicle. Because each alarm type has its own camera, a drowsiness alarm comes with the driver's face and a tailgating alarm with the road ahead, and review takes minutes.
A field example
A car ran into the back of a building-materials truck in Dammam, and its driver claimed the truck had braked for no reason. The harsh-braking alarm arrived with a forward-camera clip showing another car cutting across in front of the truck. The company sent the clip to its insurer, and the claim was closed in its favour within a week instead of two months of correspondence.
Frequently asked questions
Is all camera footage uploaded to the platform?
No. The full recording stays on the in-vehicle recorder; only the clip for each event is uploaded automatically. Any other period can be requested before it is overwritten.
How long is an event clip?
Usually a few seconds to half a minute covering before and after the event, depending on the device and its settings.
Which camera suits drowsiness alarms?
The driver-facing camera, because only it shows eye closure and yawning.
