Restricted Zone
In Arabicالمنطقة المحظورة
A geofence that fleet vehicles must not enter or stop in, with an immediate alarm when the rule is broken.
What is a restricted zone in fleet management?
A restricted zone is a geofence the company defines as off-limits: no entry, no stopping, or entry only at a capped speed. Typical examples are residential districts closed to heavy trucks, hazardous areas inside oil and gas plants, and places linked to fuel theft or illicit unloading.
It is drawn like any other geofence; the rule attached to it decides what kind of restriction applies.
How it works
- 1The restricted area is drawn
- 2Platform detects entry or stops inside
- 3Control room gets an instant alarm
Why does a restricted zone matter in fleet management?
A loaded truck in a residential street can end in a traffic fine or a serious accident, and an unauthorised entry to a hazardous site can cost the company its contract. An instant alarm lets the control room call the driver and get him out before something happens, and the record shows the client that safety rules are actually enforced.
What you gain
- Instant alarm on entry
- Record proving safety enforcement
- Curbs vehicle misuse
How does Safee help monitor restricted zones?
Safee detects a vehicle entering a restricted zone, stopping in it or exceeding the speed limit inside it, and sends an instant alarm to the control room, using the Geofence Enter and Exit, Stops Inside Geofence and Speed Inside a Geofence alarm conditions. The restriction can be limited to one class of vehicle, such as heavy trucks but not supervisors' pick-ups.
A field example
An oil-field services company in Sohar moves equipment into plants where unauthorised vehicles are barred from process areas. It drew 18 restricted zones inside the plants, with an instant alarm to the safety supervisor on any entry. The first month logged 11 entries, mostly new drivers taking shortcuts. After a toolbox talk and alarm follow-up, entries fell to one in the third month and the company passed its safety audit with no findings.
Frequently asked questions
Does the system physically stop a vehicle entering a restricted zone?
No. It detects the entry and alerts immediately; acting on it is up to the control room and the driver.
Can I ban stopping but allow driving through?
Yes. Set the rule on stops inside the zone rather than entry, so drivers can pass through without an alarm unless they stop.
