TGA Tracking Requirements

In Arabicاشتراطات التتبع لدى الهيئة العامة للنقل

In short

The Saudi Transport General Authority's requirement that trucks carry tracking and weight-monitoring devices from a qualified provider, linked to WASL.

What are TGA tracking requirements in fleet management?

The Public Transport Authority (now the Transport General Authority, TGA) announced that tracking and weight-monitoring devices would be mandatory for new trucks from 1 April 2019, and for existing trucks when their operating cards are renewed. The data goes to the WASL platform and covers location, speed, load weight and driver working hours.

Not any device will do: the tracking provider must be qualified by the authority, which publishes and updates the list. Buses, tow trucks and refrigerated food transport have their own WASL activities.

How it works

  1. 1Fit a device from a qualified provider
  2. 2Register vehicle and driver in WASL
  3. 3Location, weight, status sent continuously

Why do TGA tracking requirements matter in fleet management?

Without a compliant device, a truck's operating-card renewal stalls, and a speeding or overloaded truck is visible to the regulator as it happens. Done properly, compliance also gives the fleet the same data for its own safety and cost control.

What you gain

  • Operating cards stay renewable
  • Speed and load kept within limits
  • Same data for internal control

How does Safee help you meet TGA tracking requirements?

Safee is linked to WASL, so location, status and weight from trackers and axle or load sensors reach the platform without manual work, and message acceptance is tracked per vehicle. Before a renewal date you know which trucks are ready and which need attention.

A field example

Riyadh · General freight

A general-freight company in Riyadh had operating-card renewals due for 30 of its 90 trucks within two months. It fitted trackers with weight sensors, registered the trucks and drivers in WASL and checked message acceptance daily. WASL rejected messages from four trucks over plate-data mismatches, which were fixed within a day. All 30 cards were renewed on time.

Frequently asked questions

When did tracking become mandatory for trucks in Saudi Arabia?

What data does WASL receive?

The truck's location, speed, status and load weight, plus driver data the authority uses to check truck and driver compliance.
