Cargo Door Monitoring
In Arabicمراقبة أبواب الحمولة
Recording every opening and closing of a cargo-box or reefer door, with time, duration and location, through a sensor on the door.
What is cargo door monitoring in fleet management?
Doors are monitored with a sensor on the rear or side doors of the cargo body, usually a wired magnetic switch or a wireless sensor, which reports door status to the tracker. You know when a door opened, where, and for how long.
On reefer trucks the door log explains most temperature rises; on high-value freight it exposes openings away from delivery points. Safee's Fridge Door module supports up to 8 door sensors on any vehicle, not only reefers, wired to digital inputs or connected wirelessly over BLE.
How it works
- 1Sensor detects door open or closed
- 2Tracker sends status with location
- 3Platform logs it and alerts on breaches
Why does cargo door monitoring matter in fleet management?
A door open while driving, or away from a delivery point, can mean theft or cargo at risk of falling out. A door left open for a quarter of an hour at a summer drop can raise box temperature by several degrees. With a door log, every shortage or temperature rise can be tied to its direct cause.
What you gain
- Openings away from delivery points flagged
- Temperature rises linked to doors
- Clear evidence for cargo shortages
How does Safee help with cargo door monitoring?
Safee shows each door's status live alongside the vehicle's position and box temperature, and keeps the open/close history on the vehicle timeline and in the Fridge door open info report. The Fridge Door Open alarm condition fires an instant alarm when a door opens at an unexpected place or time, so you can call the driver before a small problem grows.
A field example
A dairy distributor in Dammam saw box temperatures reach 9 °C on morning rounds. The door log showed drivers leaving doors open for 12 minutes on average at each shop. The company required doors to be shut between unloading runs and added an alarm for any door open longer than 5 minutes. Average open time fell to 4 minutes and boxes stayed below 6 °C.
Frequently asked questions
How does a truck door sensor work?
Most are magnetic: one part on the door, one on the frame. When they separate the signal changes to open and the tracker reports it.
Can door sensors be wireless?
Yes. Wireless BLE magnetic sensors avoid running cables along a trailer.
How many door sensors does a truck need?
One for every door that opens: the rear doors and any side door. An unmonitored door leaves a gap in the whole record.
