WASL Temperature and Humidity Linking
In Arabicربط الحرارة والرطوبة بمنصة وصل
Sending temperature and humidity readings from reefers and cold stores to WASL, as the SFDA requires for meat, poultry and fish businesses.
What is WASL temperature and humidity linking in fleet management?
In September 2025 the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) required meat, poultry and fish factories, their warehouses and their transport to link temperature and humidity devices electronically to the WASL platform, effective 1 October 2025. The aim is continuous monitoring of storage and transport conditions, not just checks at inspection.
In a reefer truck, box temperature and humidity travel with the vehicle's location; in a warehouse, readings come from the sensors installed there.
How it works
- 1Fit temperature and humidity sensors
- 2Readings sent to WASL with location
- 3Authority monitors readings continuously
Why does WASL temperature and humidity linking matter in fleet management?
A temperature excursion the authority sees before you do means a failed inspection, a rejected load or regulatory action. Continuous readings also give you evidence when a customer claims a delivery arrived warm.
What you gain
- Meets the SFDA linking requirement
- Evidence for disputed deliveries
- One setup for vehicles and cold stores
How does Safee help with WASL temperature and humidity linking?
Safee sends reefer temperature and humidity with the vehicle's location to WASL under the SFDA For Vehicles activity, and covers cold stores through the SFDA Warehouse activity. The same readings stay with you as a per-shipment record to show a customer or an inspector.
A field example
A frozen-poultry distributor in Jeddah linked its 35 reefer trucks to WASL ahead of the deadline. In the first week, readings showed two trucks rising above −12 °C on afternoon runs to Makkah; both had worn door seals. Since the seals were replaced neither truck has logged an excursion, and the company now attaches the temperature log to every hospital and hotel delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Who must link temperature devices to WASL?
SFDA set the requirement for meat, poultry and fish factories, warehouses and their transport, effective 1 October 2025. Check SFDA's current circulars for your product category.
Do I need a special sensor?
You need temperature and humidity sensors in the vehicle or store connected to the tracking device; the tracking provider then forwards the readings with the location.
