Humidity Monitoring

In Arabicمراقبة الرطوبة

In short

Measuring relative humidity inside the cargo box during transport and alerting when it leaves the range the goods need.

What is humidity monitoring in fleet management?

Some loads are as sensitive to humidity as to temperature. Leafy vegetables and fresh fruit wilt in dry air, while packaged medicines, dates, paper and electronics suffer from high humidity and condensation. Relative humidity, as a percentage, is therefore measured alongside temperature.

Many temperature sensors also measure humidity, so both readings reach the tracker together, each with its own range.

How it works

  1. 1Sensor measures relative humidity
  2. 2Tracker sends reading with location
  3. 3Platform alerts when out of range

Why does humidity monitoring matter in fleet management?

Humidity problems show up more slowly than a temperature spike, but they cause mould, condensation or wilting that the customer finds on delivery and rejects. A recorded log protects the carrier in a dispute, and in Saudi Arabia the SFDA requires meat, poultry and fish businesses to send humidity together with temperature from their vehicles to WASL.

What you gain

  • Fresh and sensitive goods protected
  • Condensation in the box detected
  • Humidity record for every trip

How does Safee help with humidity monitoring?

Safee shows box humidity next to temperature and vehicle position, and keeps the history of every trip for export. The Humidity in Range alarm condition fires when humidity stays out of range longer than allowed, so cooling or ventilation can be adjusted before the goods suffer.

A field example

Salalah · Fresh produce transport

A produce haulier running from Salalah to Muscat kept getting wilted lettuce and herbs returned. Humidity readings showed levels dropping to 60% on the long run even though temperature was fine. The company adjusted the reefer settings and added an alarm for humidity below 85%. Returns fell to a quarter of their previous level within two months.

Frequently asked questions

What humidity do vegetables need in transport?

Most leafy vegetables need high humidity, around 90 to 98%; fruit varies by type.

Can one sensor measure both temperature and humidity?

Yes. Many sensors measure both and send the two readings to the tracker.
