Tamper Detection

In Arabicكشف العبث بجهاز التتبع

In short

A tracker's ability to sense attempts to disable it, such as cutting power, removing the antenna or opening the case, and report them straight away.

What is tamper detection in fleet management?

The easiest way to hide a vehicle is to disconnect its tracker. Most units therefore carry an internal backup battery, enough to send an external-power-disconnected event and a few positions afterwards. Some also detect a removed GPS antenna, an opened case or movement with the ignition off.

In Safee, External power disconnected and restore events are counted per vehicle in the Vehicle Dashboard's Number of Events chart, and can arrive as an instant alarm if the device is set to send one.

How it works

  1. 1Tracker disconnected or tampered with
  2. 2Backup battery sends the event
  3. 3Platform logs it and alerts

Why does tamper detection matter in fleet management?

An untracked vehicle cannot be protected and its driver cannot be held to account. A power cut often comes just before fuel or cargo theft or private use. An alert in the same minute lets you call the driver or send a supervisor before the vehicle disappears.

What you gain

  • Alert the moment power is cut
  • Guards against theft and tampering
  • Record for investigations

How does Safee help with tamper detection?

Safee logs every external power cut and restore on the tracker and shows the count per vehicle, so a unit that is disconnected again and again stands out from the rest of the fleet. If the device is set to send the event as an alarm, the alert reaches you within the minute.

A field example

Abu Dhabi · Water tankers

An Abu Dhabi water-tanker operator saw 6 tankers burning about 20% more fuel than the rest of the fleet. The event log showed repeated night-time power disconnections on exactly those tankers. The company set the trackers to send a power-cut alarm and sent a supervisor at the first alert, who found fuel being drained. Within a month the six tankers' consumption was back in line with the fleet.

Frequently asked questions

What does the tracker do after external power is cut?

It runs on its backup battery, sending the disconnection event and positions for a time that depends on battery capacity and reporting interval.

How do I stop the tracker being disconnected in the first place?

Install it out of sight, wire it to a fused permanent supply, and route the cables inside the vehicle's original loom.
