Tanker Monitoring
In Arabicمراقبة الصهاريج
Tracking a tanker's position and the volume it carries, and when and where it is filled and discharged.
What is tanker monitoring in fleet management?
Tanker monitoring combines location tracking with measuring the volume carried by water, fuel, milk and chemical tankers. The aim is to confirm that everything that left the filling point reached the customer and was discharged in the right place.
Volume is measured either with a level sensor inside the tank or with a weight sensor whose reading is converted to litres by an equation set for each tanker. Every fill and discharge is logged with volume, time and place.
How it works
- 1Weight sensor measures the tank's load
- 2Conversion equation gives liquid volume
- 3System detects fills and discharges
Why does tanker monitoring matter in fleet management?
In liquid haulage money leaks by the litre: partial discharges en route, side sales or filling from an unapproved source. Where tankers are invoiced by load, every gap between volume filled and volume delivered is lost revenue or a dispute with the customer.
What you gain
- Every fill and discharge accounted for
- Off-site discharges flagged
- Daily volume balance
How does Safee help with tanker monitoring?
Safee's Liquid Transportation module converts the weight-sensor reading into liquid volume, so you see what is in every tanker at any moment, and its Liquid Empty and Liquid Excessive Load alarm conditions flag any discharge away from customer sites or any overfill. The Capacity Tracking Report matches daily fills and discharges for each tanker.
A field example
A water distributor in Muscat runs 35 tankers of 10,000 litres each and saw revenue slipping while trip counts held steady. The Capacity Tracking Report showed 5 tankers discharging about 2,000 litres per trip at an unregistered spot before reaching the customer. The company added an alarm for any discharge outside customer sites and confronted the drivers with the log. Daily fill and delivery figures matched again within 3 weeks.
Frequently asked questions
How is the volume in a tanker measured?
Either with a level sensor inside the tank or with a weight sensor whose reading is converted to litres. Safee uses the second method, with a conversion equation per tanker.
Why does volume differ between the filling station and the customer?
Sometimes for legitimate reasons, such as fuel expanding with heat or liquid left in the tank. A gap that keeps recurring on one tanker deserves investigation.
