Bands are km/h over the posted limit; “≤120 road” means roads with a limit up to 120 km/h. Counts are example values: 0.2 means one violation per vehicle every five months. Saudi fines use the minimum of each published range. Other cost is optional: impound, towing, vehicle downtime or a replacement driver. Up to 12 bands.

How this is calculated
violations per month = vehicles × Σ violations per vehicle per band fines per year = vehicles × Σ (violations × fine) × 12 admin per year = violations per year × minutes ÷ 60 × hourly cost net company cost = fines × company share + other costs + admin

What does the speeding fines cost calculator estimate?

Speeding fines look small one by one, but across a fleet they add up to a steady yearly cost. They also take staff time: someone has to check who drove, pay or dispute the fine, and recover it from the driver where policy allows.

This calculator loads the speeding fine table for Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Oman, multiplies it by how often your vehicles are caught in each speed band, and shows the yearly fines, the net cost to the company after recovery from drivers, the cost per vehicle, and the breakdown by band. A second tab shows what a lower violation rate would save.

What are the speeding fines in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman?

The values below are the ones loaded into the calculator, as of October 2026. Fine schedules change, so verify current values with the traffic authority before you budget. This page is not legal advice.

Saudi Arabia

As reported by Ajel in July 2026, citing the General Directorate of Traffic, the fine depends on the road's limit and how far over it the driver was. Fines are ranges; the calculator uses the minimum of each range as a conservative default. Enter the midpoint or the maximum to test a higher case. Violations are recorded by the automated Saher cameras or by traffic patrols. Source: Ajel.

How is the cost of speeding violations calculated?

Violations and fines

Violations per year (band) = Vehicles × Violations per vehicle per month × 12 Fines per year (band) = Violations per year × Fine Fines per year = Sum of all bands

Net cost to the company

Admin cost per fine = Minutes per fine ÷ 60 × Hourly cost Company fines = Fines per year × Share the company pays Recovered from drivers = Fines per year − Company fines Net company cost = Company fines + Other costs + Admin cost Total exposure = Fines + Other costs + Admin cost

Reduction scenario

Company saving = Net company cost × Reduction Violations avoided = Violations per year × Reduction

Cost per vehicle is the yearly figure divided by the number of vehicles. The reduction applies to every band equally.

Worked example: 40 vehicles in Saudi Arabia

A fleet of 40 vehicles uses the Saudi table with the default counts: 0.41 violations per vehicle per month across all bands, most of them 10–20 km/h over on roads up to 120 km/h. Amounts are in SAR.

  • Fines per vehicle per month: 0.2 × 150 + 0.08 × 300 + 0.03 × 800 + 0.01 × 1,200 + 0.01 × 1,500 + 0.05 × 300 + 0.02 × 800 + 0.01 × 1,200 = 148.
  • For the fleet that is 148 × 40 = 5,920 a month, or 71,040 a year, from 16.4 violations a month (about 197 a year).
  • Admin time of 20 minutes at 80 an hour costs 26.67 per fine, or 5,248 a year.
  • The company pays 50% of fines (35,520) and recovers the rest from drivers. Net company cost is 35,520 + 5,248 = 40,768 a year, or about 1,019 per vehicle.
  • Violations 30 km/h or more over on 120 km/h roads are 12% of the count but 34% of the fines.
  • With 40% fewer violations, the company would save about 16,307 a year and avoid about 79 violations.

How to read your results

  • Yearly fines is the full amount issued to your vehicles, whoever pays it.
  • Net company cost is what stays with the company after recovery from drivers, plus admin and other costs. Use it for the budget.
  • The band breakdown shows where the money goes. A few high-speed violations can cost more than many small ones, and they carry the most risk.
  • The scenario is only as good as the reduction you enter. Replace it with your own results once you have a few months of data.

Common mistakes when costing speeding fines

  • Counting only what the company pays. Fines recovered from drivers still cost admin time and affect driver morale and retention.
  • Ignoring the high bands. They are rare but expensive, and in the UAE they bring black points and impound.
  • Using one month. Violations vary with season, routes and new drivers. Use at least six to twelve months of fines.
  • Mixing currencies. Fine tables are in local currency. If you switch the currency, convert the fines too.
  • Treating the table as final. Fine schedules change. Check the official source before you budget.

Assumptions and limits

Results are estimates based on the values entered. The fine tables are a starting point as of October 2026 and may not reflect later changes, discounts, late-payment surcharges or local rules; verify current values with the traffic authority. The calculator does not decide who is liable for a fine and is not legal advice. It does not include accident costs, insurance effects or license suspensions. The reduction scenario is an assumption you set, not a measured or promised result.

How much is a speeding fine in Saudi Arabia?

As reported by Ajel in July 2026, citing the General Directorate of Traffic, fines depend on the road's limit and how far over it the driver was. On roads with a limit up to 120 km/h they range from SAR 150–300 (10–20 km/h over) to SAR 1,500–2,000 (more than 50 km/h over). On 140 km/h roads they start at SAR 300–500 for 5–10 km/h over. Verify current values with the traffic authority.

How much is a speeding fine in the UAE?

Under the federal schedule (Ministerial Resolution No. 178 of 2017) published on u.ae, fines run from AED 300 for up to 20 km/h over to AED 3,000, 23 black points and 60 days' impound for more than 80 km/h over. Emirates may apply local rules on top, so check with the police where your vehicles drive.

Who pays a speeding fine in a company vehicle?

That depends on your fleet policy, the employment contract and local law. Many fleets recover some or all fines from the driver at the time of the violation. Enter the share the company keeps paying, and confirm your policy with legal or HR. This calculator is not legal advice.

How do I calculate the yearly cost of speeding fines for my fleet?

For each speed band, multiply vehicles × violations per vehicle per month × fine, then add the bands and multiply by 12. Add admin time and other costs, and subtract what drivers repay to get the net cost to the company.

Why does the calculator use the minimum Saudi fine?

Saudi fines are published as ranges and the amount within the range depends on the violation. The minimum gives a conservative baseline. Replace any value with the midpoint or the maximum to test a higher case.

Can speed alerts reduce speeding fines?

Speed alerts tell drivers and managers when a vehicle goes over a set speed, so the behavior can be addressed before it becomes a habit. How much violations fall depends on your fleet and follow-up. Enter your own assumption in the reduction scenario tab.
