Offline Vehicle
In Arabicالمركبة غير المتصلة
A vehicle whose tracker has sent no message for longer than the threshold the company sets, so its current position is unknown.
What is an offline vehicle in fleet management?
An offline vehicle has not reported for longer than is acceptable, so its position on the map is stale. The cause may be poor coverage on desert roads, a faulty device or SIM, or someone deliberately cutting the power.
Safee distinguishes three communication states: Online; Delayed, when messages arrive more than two minutes after they were recorded; and Offline, when the silence passes the threshold, at which point the vehicle turns dark grey.
How it works
- 1Tracker stops sending messages
- 2Silence passes the set threshold
- 3Platform marks the vehicle offline
Why does an offline vehicle matter in fleet management?
An offline vehicle is a blind spot: no position, no alarms, no fuel or temperature data. Every silent hour can hide theft, after-hours use or an unreported accident. In activities where tracking is regulated, the outage itself may count as a breach.
What you gain
- Tells parked from disconnected
- Catches tampering early
- Data gaps closed quickly
How does Safee help you deal with offline vehicles?
Safee gathers offline vehicles into one list with each one's last known position and last message time, and separates delayed messages from a complete outage. Every morning you know which units need checking, before gaps in the data grow or someone takes advantage of them.
A field example
A water-tanker company in Jubail noticed 6 of its 50 tankers going offline for hours on scattered days. Comparing times showed each gap started after the last recorded delivery and ended just before the tanker returned to the yard. The workshop found the power leads had been pulled by hand. The company refitted the units under locked covers and added a daily check of the list; the gaps stopped and off-schedule water sales came to light.
Frequently asked questions
What does a Delayed status mean?
The unit is connected, but its messages reach the server more than two minutes after they were recorded, usually because of a weak network.
Does Offline mean the device is broken?
Not always. The vehicle may be out of coverage, parked for a long time, its unit's power disconnected, or its SIM expired.
Is the vehicle's history lost while it is offline?
No. Earlier data stays intact, and many trackers store messages during poor coverage and send them when the connection returns.
