Speed Inside a Geofence

In Arabicالسرعة داخل المنطقة الجغرافية

In short

A speed limit specific to a site such as a plant, port or school area, applied to a vehicle while it is inside.

What is speed inside a geofence in fleet management?

The public road limit does not suit every place. Plant yards, ports, fuel stations, camps and school areas usually carry much lower limits, such as 20 or 30 km/h.

The site is drawn as a geofence with its own speed limit attached, so the driver is held to that limit while inside and to the road limit outside.

How it works

  1. 1Site drawn as a geofence
  2. 2Site speed limit attached
  3. 3Alarm on any breach inside

Why does speed inside a geofence matter in fleet management?

On closed sites, workers, forklifts and pedestrians move among the vehicles, and any incident stops work and triggers an investigation. Many plant and port operators in the Gulf require contractors to keep to site limits and ask for records to prove it. An automatic alarm gives you those records and catches offenders before an accident does.

What you gain

  • Protects people on site
  • Proves compliance to site owners
  • The right limit for every site

How does Safee help control speed inside a geofence?

Safee's Speed Inside a Geofence alarm condition watches a vehicle's speed from the moment it enters the site, raises an instant alarm when the site limit is exceeded, and keeps a record of every breach you can show the site owner. Each site can have its own limit, alongside the vehicle's general road limit.

A field example

Sohar · Port logistics

A container haulier in Sohar works inside a port whose operator enforces 25 km/h, and received a formal warning after a complaint about one of its trucks. It drew the port yards as a geofence with the port limit for its 50 trucks. The first week showed 31 breaches between 35 and 45 km/h, mostly on night shifts. Drivers were briefed and the breach was added to their monthly scorecard; breaches fell to four a week and the complaint was closed.

Frequently asked questions

Does a site speed limit replace the vehicle's general speed limit?

No, it runs alongside it. The general limit covers the roads; the site limit covers speed only inside the geofences you choose.

Can different sites have different limits?

Yes. Each site can have its own limit, and similar sites, such as depot yards, can share one.

How does Speed Inside a Geofence differ from speeding and excessive overspeed?

Breaking a site limit is a form of speeding, measured against a lower limit that belongs to the place and applies only inside it. Excessive overspeed is measured against a second, higher threshold above the normal limit that marks the serious cases.
