AI Dashcam
In Arabicكاميرا القيادة الذكية
A windscreen camera that analyses the image on board in real time, detecting risky driving and road hazards and clipping each event.
What is an AI dashcam in fleet management?
A conventional dashcam only records. An AI dashcam is a single unit, usually with a road lens and a driver lens, plus storage and a processor that analyses the image on board. It detects drowsiness, phone use, smoking, tailgating and lane departure, warns the driver audibly on the spot, and sends the event with its clip.
It suits cars and light trucks; vehicles needing many cameras are better served by an MDVR. In Safee camera alarms and clips arrive through the V-IVMS video service.
How it works
- 1Camera analyses the image live
- 2Alerts driver, records the clip
- 3Alarm and clip reach the platform
Why does an AI dashcam matter in fleet management?
Many serious crashes are preceded by a few seconds of distraction or fatigue. An in-cab alert brings the driver back before it happens, and the clip gives supervisors real coaching material and protects the company from false claims. As a single, quick-to-fit unit, it can be rolled out fleet-wide at reasonable cost.
What you gain
- Instant in-cab driver alerts
- A clip for every event
- Coaching based on real footage
How does Safee help you handle AI dashcam alarms?
Safee shows the camera's alarm and its clip together with the vehicle's location at that moment, so a supervisor knows what happened without requesting footage. As alarms build up, the drivers who repeat the same behaviour stand out, and coaching starts with them.
A field example
A Dubai parcel-delivery company running 80 vans had minor collisions almost every week. It fitted AI dashcams, which logged 420 phone-use alarms in the first month, nearly half from 9 drivers. The company coached those drivers on their own clips and tied bonuses to fewer alarms; phone-use alarms fell 70% and minor collisions dropped to about one a month.
Frequently asked questions
How is an AI dashcam different from a normal dashcam?
A normal dashcam records for review after the fact; an AI dashcam detects risky behaviour, alerts the driver and sends the event to the platform as it happens.
Is the driver watched all the time?
The camera records continuously to its own storage, but the platform normally receives only event clips unless a live stream or a specific period is requested.
Does an AI dashcam need a separate tracker?
Some models have their own GNSS receiver and SIM and work alone; others connect to the existing tracker. Check before buying.
