What is a driver safety quiz?
A driver safety quiz checks whether drivers know what to do in the situations that cause most crashes and breakdowns. This one has 20 multiple-choice questions written for Gulf roads: summer heat, sandstorms and fog, fatigue before iftar, speed cameras, school buses, heavy vehicles, wadis and camels at night.
Each answer is followed by a one-line explanation, so the quiz also works as a short refresher. Drivers who reach the pass mark get a printable certificate with their name, score, date and a unique code.
Which topics does the quiz cover?
| Topic | Questions | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Heat and vehicle care | 3 | Tire pressure in summer, long idling, drinking water |
| Dust, sandstorms and fog | 3 | Headlights, hazard lights, where to stop |
| Fatigue and rest | 2 | The hour before iftar, signs of fatigue, breaks |
| Speed, spacing and overtaking | 3 | Camera tolerance myths, the 3-second rule, overtaking |
| Seatbelts, phones and right of way | 4 | Rear seatbelts, phone use, roundabouts, school buses |
| Heavy vehicles and loads | 2 | Truck blind spots, securing a load |
| Accidents, floods and animals | 3 | Minor accidents, flowing wadis, camels at night |
How is the quiz scored?
Every question has one correct answer. The score counts all 20 questions, and the driver passes when every question is answered and the score is at or above the pass mark. The default is 80%; the fleet manager can change it.
The options are shuffled for each attempt, but the questions stay in the same order, so results can be compared between drivers.
How does the driver safety certificate work?
When the driver passes, the tool creates a certificate code such as SDQ-7K2M-QX4B. The full certificate is part of the quiz report: choose Get certificate and report and fill in the fleet manager's details. We send you the report with the certificate on the first page. Print the certificate on its own or save the whole report as PDF.
The code is calculated from the driver name, company, date, answers and score. The same result on the same day gives the same code, so it can be matched to the report kept on file.
Worked example: one driver, 20 questions
- A delivery driver answers 17 of 20 questions correctly. The misses are where to stop in a sandstorm, the speed camera margin and what to do after a minor accident.
- Score = 17 ÷ 20 × 100 = 85%. With a pass mark of 80% (16 of 20), the driver passes and the certificate code is issued.
- By topic, dust and fog, speed, and accidents each score 2 of 3 (67%); the other four topics score 100%. These three explanations are the ones to go over with the driver.
- On the Team results tab, five drivers scored 95%, 90%, 85%, 70% and 60%. Three of five passed (60%), the average is 80%, and two drivers need a refresher.
How to run the quiz for a team of drivers
- One driver at a time. Open the quiz on a tablet or phone, enter the driver's name and hand it over. Use Start again for the next driver.
- Collect the results. After each attempt, choose Add result to team list. The Team results tab shows the pass rate, the average and who needs a refresher.
- Export. Export CSV for Excel saves every result with the date and certificate code for the training file.
- Repeat. Run the quiz at induction, once a year, before summer and Ramadan, and after any incident.
Common mistakes in driver safety training
- Testing without explaining. A score alone changes little; go over the missed questions with the driver.
- Teaching the camera, not the limit. There is no speed margin you can rely on; the posted limit is the rule.
- One quiz for life. Knowledge fades. Repeat the quiz each year and before the seasons that bring new risks.
- Ignoring what happens on the road. Compare quiz results with recorded speeding and harsh driving events.
Limits of this quiz
The quiz checks knowledge, not driving skill, and it is not a driving license, a legal qualification or an official training record. Rules, fines and reporting channels differ between Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and other Gulf countries and can change; regulatory details are cited as of October 2026, so check current requirements with the authority in each country. Answers stay in the browser unless you request the report or export them.
