Driver Behaviour
In Arabicسلوك السائق
How a driver drives, as measured by telematics: speed, harsh braking, acceleration and cornering, seat-belt use, idling and driving hours.
What is driver behaviour in fleet management?
Driver behaviour monitoring turns driving style into measurable events. The tracker and vehicle sensors record speeding, harsh braking, acceleration and cornering, unbelted driving, engine idling and long stints without rest; cameras add drowsiness and distraction.
Each event is logged against the driver, then rolled up into weekly and monthly indicators that show where each driver, and the fleet as a whole, is heading.
How it works
- 1Device records driving events
- 2Platform logs them per driver
- 3Reports turn them into indicators
Why does driver behaviour matter in fleet management?
Behaviour is the factor a manager can genuinely change. Aggressive driving burns fuel and wears out brakes and tyres, while speeding and unbelted driving raise both the likelihood and the severity of crashes. Measuring behaviour turns safety from slogans into numbers you can track.
What you gain
- Lower fuel consumption
- Less brake and tyre wear
- Fewer crashes, cheaper insurance
How does Safee help monitor driver behaviour?
Safee gathers driving events from every vehicle, credits them to whoever was driving, shows the last 24 hours' violations on the fleet dashboard and sums them up each month for every driver in the Driver Performance Report. When a crash happens, the seconds before it are there in detail.
A field example
A construction-equipment haulier in Abu Dhabi saw brake and tyre costs rise 25% in a year. Behaviour data showed 9 harsh-braking events per 100 km, mostly at project-site entrances. It lowered speed limits on site and trained drivers to slow down earlier on approach; the rate fell to 3 per 100 km and brake costs dropped 18% within six months.
Frequently asked questions
What are the main driver behaviour indicators?
Speeding, harsh braking and acceleration, unbelted driving and idling. Cameras add drowsiness and phone use.
Is a tracker alone enough to monitor behaviour?
It covers speed, braking, acceleration, cornering and driving hours; drowsiness and distraction need a driver-monitoring camera.
